The Investigative Committee of Karachay-Cherkessia is investigating the case of extortion of a cryptocurrency bribe by the head of the local department for drug trafficking control. This is reported in the official Telegram channel of the department.

According to the case materials, in October 2021, the accused received operational information about the activities of three local residents involved in the sale of potent substances.

During a conversation with one of the suspects, the police officer saw a cryptocurrency wallet application on her phone. Threatening with criminal prosecution, he demanded that she transfer the entire amount there, equivalent to 1.8 million rubles, to his address. The suspect complied with this demand.

Currently, the MVD officer has been detained, charged, and a preventive measure will be chosen soon.

If the guilt of the detainee is proven, he will be dismissed from the MVD, and his superiors will be held accountable for strict disciplinary action.

It is worth reminding that in October 2023, a third MVD officer in Moscow was arrested in a case involving a bribe of 2718 BTC.
