OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and former Apple design chief Jony Ive plan to create a gadget similar to a smartphone equipped with AI. This was reported by The Information citing sources.

According to their information, they intend to raise $1 billion in investments for the new project, including potential sponsorships from Thrive Capital and Emerson Collective.

Insiders say that the device will provide users with an intuitive way to interact with neural networks in everyday life.

The publication notes that Altman is known for his interest in screenless interaction with AI. It is expected that he will share his experience and knowledge, potentially incorporating similar principles into the project.

Jony Ive was responsible for the design of many well-known Apple gadgets, including the iPhone. After leaving the company, he founded LoveForm, a firm that designs devices for various companies.

Partners also reportedly held talks with SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son. They are supposedly working on the concept of creating a new company that combines the skills and technologies of their organizations.

The expected involvement of leading chip developer Arm, in which SoftBank has a significant stake, could further expand the scale and possibilities of the project.

It was also revealed that Apple’s former design chief for the iPhone and Apple Watch, Tang Tang, who left his position in February and joined Ive’s LoveForm, will also be part of the team.

Although the project is still in its early stages, sources said that the team is focused on creating devices specifically designed for home use.

In January, Worldcoin developers announced that they will make orbs similar to an Apple product.
