The EigenLayer restaking platform and its data accessibility level EigenDA (in beta version) have been launched on the Ethereum mainnet.

“Until now, restaking on EigenLayer simply meant depositing LST tokens or transferring funds to the validator via EigenPod. Now, with operators and AVS (EigenDA) services in place, being an active stacker means delegating authority to one of the top 200 services,” the message says.

The project intends to implement a joint security mechanism for decentralized applications, which will simplify and reduce the cost of launching and maintaining dapps by providing AVS services.

The team emphasized that the mainnet launch does not include intra-protocol payments from AVS operators and slashing penalties for validators.

EigenLayer noted that in the near future, other accessibility layers will join EigenDA – more than 10 are currently being tested on Holesky.

EigenLayer founder Sreeram Kannan called the mainnet launch “the first step towards building verifiable digital communities.” According to him, in the system being created:

  • Ethereum plays the role of the internet;
  • rollups – web servers;
  • AVS – Software-as-a-Service providers;
  • EigenLayer – cloud service.

According to DeFi Llama , the total value of assets locked in EigenLayer has exceeded $13.5 billion. The protocol is second only to the perennial leader – Lido.

Recall that in March, the EigenLayer team raised $50 million in a Series A funding round. The main investor was Blockchain Capital.
